More About Literacy Plus

Literacy Plus was founded in 1993. At that time it was called Renfrew County Community Upgrading or RCCUP. This is still our legal name.

Literacy Plus serves adults throughout Renfrew County and in Whitney, in the District of Nipissing. We provide literacy training to nearly 200 students in our area each year.

Literacy Plus is a community-based agency incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected from all parts of the county.

Literacy Plus receives core funding from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. We also hold fundraising activities and gratefully accept donations.

Literacy Plus is a member of:
• Community Literacy of Ontario
• Ontario Literacy Coalition
• Literacy Link of Eastern Ontario (LLEO)
• Literacy Ontario Central South (LOCS)
• Laubach Literacy

Literacy Plus also partners with the two school board literacy programs on the Literacy Service Planning committee for Renfrew County.
