Are you Workready?  In order to get and to keep a job, a worker needs many job-related and personal management skills.  A worker needs to be able to:

  • manage personal stress

  • set goals

  • solve problems

  • make decisions

  • manage time

  • communicate effectively

In this course, Workready:  Personal Management Skills, you will have an opportunity to find out more about these skills.  You will also develop other work-related skills, such as thinking logically, demonstrating positive work habits, and presenting yourself and your ideas with confidence. Many employers think that good personal management skills are more important than some other job-related skills.  If you don't have good personal management skills, many employers won't hire you or they may not promote you.

In Workready, you will also improve your reading, writing, computer, and internet skills.  All these skills are valuable work skills as well.

This Workready course has been successfully completed by many learners at level 2 and above.  If you are at level 2, you might want to ask someone to be available if you need some help.

Over the next few weeks, there will be new topics presented on this web-site.   You will be asked to read materials and to respond to them on line.  As well, you will have an opportunity to participate in discussions with other people taking Workready

There are about 2 hours of work for each Topic in Workready.  So be prepared to read, think, and write. If you complete all of the readings and all of the activities, you will have improved your skills with reading, writing, using the computer, and the internet.  You will also know a lot more about Personal Management Skills.  If you have improved those skills, you may have improved your chances of getting a job or a promotion.

You will earn a certificate in Workready: Personal Management Skills if you complete the learning activities required for each topic.
