Students

Literacy Plus students are at least 19 years of age and have been out of school for one year or more.

Students come to Literacy Plus for many reasons. They may want help learning to:

  • read to their children
  • look up a phone number
  • read the newspaper
  • read a driver’s manual
  • write letters or fill out forms
  • write a résumé
  • get a job
  • measure ingredients for a recipe
  • count change or figure out the taxes on a purchase
  • plan a household budget
  • learn to use a computer

At Literacy Plus, students can get their skills assessed and decide what they want to work on.

Most of our programs are free. There is a small fee for supplies for students in the computer-based classes.

Students can join the program at any time.

Students meet with their tutors at least once a week.

Students can count on confidentiality at Literacy Plus.
